The EMDR Practitioner is back on
the rails.....

November 2001
I hope that my previous editorial "SORRY IS NOT ENOUGH", which was subtitled
"like Railtrack in the UK, we have a big programme of modernisation going
on", wasn't a bad omen! We all know what has happened to Railtrack!
I'm pleased to say that The EMDR Practitioner is 'back on track' so to speak -
despite having numerous 'delays' and 'cancellations'. The temptation is to continue
with analogies ad infinitum, such as 'we apologise for the late arrival of The
EMDR Practitioner - we hope it hasn't spoilt your reading unduly' - but I won't.
What started out in 1997 as an enthusiastic newsletter, has become more popular
than anyone could imagine - least of all me. Unfortunately, despite my taking
early retirement from the British NHS, I have found that running a full time private
practice in several locations, doesn't provide me with the quality time I need
to spend on The EMDR Practitioner. I have therefore, after much heart-searching,
decided to play a backseat role in respect of The EMDR Practitioner. However,
I am pleased to say that Scott Borrelli will take over the Editor-in-Chief's mantle
over the next year or so, although we have agreed that for the foreseeable future,
both Scott and I will run things, ably assisted by Kofi Krafona. Once Scott feels
able to take over completely, then I will remain as the 'office boy' - I can still
make a pretty decent cup of tea!
As for the world of EMDR, who would have guessed that such an enormous need for
EMDR was to develop in the USA? I'm sure that many of our readers will have heard
the comparisons made with Pearl Harbour - and I wonder what EMDR could have achieved
back in 1941? All at The EMDR Practitioner, and in EMDR Europe, wish the families
of the 30 or so different nationalities involved, a speedy resolution to the hurt
and sorrow - and likewise all those people around the world caught up in the aftermath
of 11th September 2001.
Finally, now that The EMDR Practitioner is fully updated, I would like to
put in a request to all our readers to consider writing an article for The EMDR
Practitioner. The menu on the left side gives excellent instructions to authors
- and the editorial staff are only too willing to help.
All the best for 2002 and I hope to see some of you at the Northern Ireland trainings
(February L1 and April L2) and in Edinburgh (April L1).
