This quarterly newsletter is originally published in the EMDR International Association's (EMDRIA) quarterly newsletter. We are grateful for the rights to publish these accounts of illustrious EMDR practitioners, written by EMDR specialist, Dr Marilyn Luber, whose own exceptional biography is printed below. Thanks to newly appointed Publications & Communications Coordinator of EMDRIA, Whitney Hanson, for sending these along to us, and also to Gayla Turner, her predecessor.
Marilyn Luber, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist in general private practice in Center City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She initially trained in EMDR in 1992. She teaches Facilitator and Supervisory trainings and other EMDR-related subjects both nationally and internationally and was on the EMDR Task Force for Dissociative Disorders. Dr.Luber was on the Founding Board of Directors of the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) and served as the Chairman of the International Committee until June 1999. In 1997, Dr. Luber was given a Humanitarian Services Award by the EMDR Humanitarian Association. In 2003, she received the EMDR International Associations award For Outstanding Contribution and Service to EMDRIA. In 2005, she was awarded The Francine Shapiro Award For Outstanding Contribution and Service to EMDR. In 2001, through EMDR HAP (Humanitarian Assistance Programs), she published a Handbook for EMDR Clients that has been translated into eight languages. She has written the Around the World and In the Spotlight articles for the EMDRIA Newsletter since 1997.
Dr. Luber has worked as a Primary Consultant for the FBI field division in Philadelphia. In her general psychology practice, she works with adolescents, adults, and couples. She specializes in complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD), trauma and related issues, and dissociative disorders, and facilitates consultation groups for EMDR practitioners.
