Letter from the Editor

An Early Start to Spring, 2005 Edition
The EMDR-Practitioner

Dear EMDR Colleagues, Associates and Friends,

Welcome to an early start to the 2005 edition of The EMDR Practitioner (EMDR-P), the official professional journal representing the EMDR Europe Association. The EMDR-P represents the heart of an ever-expanding EMDR presence in Europe, and our philosophy emphasizes the value of exchange, unity, and inclusion. In this spirit, we welcome nations from all over the world to contribute and to represent the best of EMDR practice in our premier journal.

We are continuously reviewing news updates from The EMDR Europe Association, the coordinating body for the national EMDR associations, and an affiliated member of the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). Currently, fourteen member countries are recognized by the EMDR Europe Association, represented by the country flag buttons on the Home page of The EMDR Practitioner, where you can quickly log into their specific sites.

The EMDR Europe Association maintains close communication with the EMDR parent organization in America, and with the international organization, EMDRIA.  These and European national sites can be found on our newly expanded “links” page. The EMDR Europe Association accredits practitioners and consultants according to sets of rigorous training and supervision activities. The Consultants Group is currently reviewing training requirements. Stay tuned for updates on this in early 2005. We are enthusiastic about recruiting more applications for consultant and practitioner accreditation, and you can view current criteria by clicking on the EMDR Europe Association link.

The Sixth EMDR European Conference, Where Science and Practitioners Meet, will be held at The University of Brussels, Belgium on June 11 & 12, 2005. Our very special guest will include the founder of EMDR, Francine Shapiro. Click the relevant “links” on the Home page for further details, and consider submitting an Abstract for a poster, presentation, symposium or workshop. Abstracts are due December 15, 2004!

The EMDR Practitioner would like to enlist a group of reviewers for the Conference willing to submit a few articles based on the 2005 Conference experience. Additionally, we are looking for short reviews on several of the new and inspiring books and other materials on EMDR. Please email me if you feel inspired!

We are eager to receive your suggestions for making this journal an ever more valuable addition to your practice, and to consider publishing with us. If you would like to sit on the journal  review board, please let me know.

Enjoy this early start to The EMDR Practitioner, 2005!

With kind regards,
Dr Scott Borrelli, CPsychol.
