Letter from the Editor
SUMMER, 2004 Edition
The EMDR-Practitioner

Dear EMDR Colleagues, Associates and Friends,

I am delighted to announce the launch of the Summer 2004 edition of The EMDR Practitioner (EMDR-P), the official professional journal representing Europe and the EMDR Europe Association. Since taking on EMDR therapist Andrew Millard as webmaster last year, the journal has undergone a remarkable facelift, and we are indebted to his craftsmanship. It is now easier to navigate between the sections of the journal. We are continuously reviewing news and information updates from The EMDR Europe Association, the coordinating body for the national EMDR associations, and an affiliated member of the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). Currently, fourteen member countries are recognized by the EMDR Europe Association, represented by the country flag buttons on the Home page of The EMDR Practitioner. We are eager to expand our member states, especially in recognition of the recent addition of ten new EU members. Although the EMDR-P represents the heart of an ever-expanding Europe, our philosophy emphasizes the value of communication, unity, and inclusivity. In this spirit, we welcome member states from all over the world to contribute to and be represented in our premier journal.

The EMDR Europe Association accredits practitioners and consultants according to sets of rigorous training and supervision activities, and maintains close communication with the EMDR parent organization in America, and with the international organization, EMDRIA.  These and European national sites can be found on our newly expanded “links” page.

The EMDR Europe Association’s conference in Stockholm on June 11-13 2004 was a great success, and we would like to solicit brief reviews from our readership on conference activities.

There are a number of improvements to The Practitioner which we will be considering this year, including:

updating our Editorial Board and inviting new national members;
reviewing the potential for offering continuing education/continuing professional development for both authors and readers of articles published in our journal;
offering journal membership and additional benefits.

We are eager to receive your suggestions for making the journal an even more valuable addition to your practice, and to consider publishing with us. If you would like to sit on the review board, please let me know.

For our Summer 2004 edition, we begin with contributions from several of our most outstanding EMDR practitioners. I have included a brief introduction of each of the author’s articles, and I am certain that you will enjoy these contributions

With kind regards,

Scott Borrelli, CPsychol.
